Hillsborough Resources continued to operate the Quinsam underground coal mine during the downturn in the economic cycle that had the effect of closing all other underground coal mines in Canada. While mining at Quinsam has been rewarding it is a technically challenging mining situation primarily due to the steep pitch of the coal seams.
The team at Quinsam, have become very skilled at planning for and mining in such conditions. As a result of these assets in terms of skill base we have been sought after in consulting and other business development scenarios.
