A future miner?
Hillsborough Resources believes strongly in the concept of being a good corporate citizen in and around the communities where we conduct our business. We have publicly stated:

“There is more to our business than just selling product and paying wages. We are proud of our communities, and are appreciative of the support we receive from our residents, businesses, local and provincial agencies. In return, we are pleased to be able to support our communities as well.”

There are many ways that we get involved. It is important to convey information about us at every opportunity whether through municipal and service organizations, through the press, giving tours of our operations and through adhoc opportunities.

We sponsor activities that serve to enrich the fabric of the communities where we live. Usually our focus is on youth, in groups or individuals; cultural events such as the arts; or health services such as Hospital Foundations, Relay for Life and Hospice.

Mining operations require extensive goods and services from a variety of sources to support our efforts. One of our priorities is to ensure where there is economic competitiveness we will shop locally. We are proud members of Chambers of Commerce wherever we do business.

The term community can have many definitions. Beyond the towns and cities we also strive to be good citizens where ever we conduct business, by contributing to the economy and operating in a safe and responsible manner. Where appropriate we consult and form relationships with the First Nations associated with areas within which we operate or strive to.

We are part of a strong and progressive Mining industry in this province, our country, and the world. We strive to represent the best of what Canadian Miners can offer. We are conscious of our role as an ambassador for our industry, no matter what part of the world wide community we operate in.

The Mining Industry is a strong and vibrant economic engine for our communities. We are modern, and responsible in the way that we conduct our business. However we must constantly work to change perceptions of Mining from a bygone era. We must constantly find ways to educate our constituents and be transparent in our activities.

Mining…where would we be without it?
